1/15/10 - Energy Issues in the Commonwealth: Rate Caps, Peak Demand, and more

Pennsylvania Public Utility Commissioner Robert Powelson spoke on Friday, 1/15/10 at the Chamber of Commerce.  Sponsored by the COMCAST Public Affairs Series.

Commissioner Powerlson spoke to the chamber members about energy deregulation and the rate cap expirations that just occurred on 1/1/10 for the PPL and Penelec Territories in Pennsylvania, and the upcoming rate cap expirations for the rest of the state coming on 1/1/11.

Mr. Powelson explained how energy choice works and what consumers and businesses need to know.  He explained how all consumers should take advantage of choice and select an energy supplier rather than stay on the default rate.  Business and industrial customers have additional choices and can seek assistance from energy consultants like Applied Energy Partners to help them.

He also spoke about the valuable opportunities presented by Peak Demand Reduction programs and renewable energy credits.
