City of Allentown, PA switches to Out-of-State Electricity Suppliers

The city of Allentown, PA, in the newly deregulated territory of PPL (formerly Pittsburgh Power and Light), has selected a new electricity supplier.  The city announced it would not be buying its electricity from PPL, but would use Florida-based Liberty Power, and Maryland-based Constellation New Energy instead.  The move while expected to result in significant savings to the City, is especially surprising given that PPL's headquarters are in Allentown .
