So, who is Taking the Challenge?

The EPA has reported that over 1,330 manufacturing and industrial end users have taken the Energy Star Challenge with over 420 sites achieving recognition and more than 280 sites have taken the challenge more than once since the program began. The participation in the challenge has resulted in huge savings of roughly 20% in the 1.9 years participating while reducing over 73 trillion BTUs resulting in over $371 million in energy costs. Looking at the savings and reduction in perspective, the energy savings by facilities who completed the Energy Star Challenge equals the total annual energy use of 407,650 households!

Participation in the Energy Star Challenge is free. The EPA offers support and free resources with no risk or penalties, just the possibility for recognition and cost savings. Energy Star recognition is national including an official certificate from the Energy Star program documenting savings, a profile on the Energy Star website, a congratulatory letter from the EPA highlighting the site’s accomplishments, and access to materials for communicating the site’s achievements within and outside of the organization.
